The animals at Nordens Ark are endanged and many are part of particular rescue projects. Since they require peace and quiet in order to flourish and breed, they live in large enclosures with lots of greenery. The route that leads across wooden bridges and along gravel paths is 2.7 km long.

Guided tours can be booked throughout the year. At many points in our animal facility there are childrens’ stations, which demonstrate the various traits of the animals in a simple and concrete fashion. The stations are designed so that the children themselves get to be active, by testing, playing and learning. At present there are some 60 different species of endangered Scandinavian and exotic animals as well as endangered native Scandinavian breeds. Many are part of the European endangered species programme, EEP.
