Hökensås’s quiet, peace and tranquillity is sought by many. The region is found lying to the west of Lake Vättern, amongst a vast expanse of peaceful seclusion. Walking through the forests of pine and fir you will easily see elk, deer, foxes and hares. The region’s native beauty once carved by geological times millions of years since passed.

Its Nature, aura and open atmosphere are reminiscent only to that of the far North of Sweden, and perhaps even beyond this, in the plentiful extent of the berries, foliage and other wildlife. Within Hökensås’s hilly terrain lies over fifty lakes and waterways in the valleys of this breathtaking scenery, a legacy formed from the last ice age.

This scenic area has been popular among fishing enthusiasts for over 45 years. Overlooking Lake Vättern, Sweden's second largest lake, anglers will find a veritable Mecca. The surroundings at Hökensås have the character of a moor. In a light and open terrain small lakes sparkle amid tree clad hills and ridges. Wild berries and mushrooms are plentiful and the elk (moose), The King of the Forest, roams here along with other game. The wealth of lakes in Hökensås offers fishing of every form. You can fish from a dinghy, boat or go wading, whatever method you prefer and enjoy, to increase your chances. You can also stay on the shore, by your rod, waiting for the first bite.

Fly-fishing, spinning and bait is possible at many locations and with different lakes to choose from there are more opportunities for success. If you are missing something from your equipment then you can almost certainly get it at the well stocked fishing shop. You can get experienced advice and valuable tips from the staff here too.

For absolute beginners or a families wanting an enjoyable and entertaining day out there are "family fishing days" with a guide. All the equipment you need and instruction for all ages is provided. They run from midsummer until the beginning of August.

On Hönesås there are roads everywhere, small roads that lead to and around all the lakes. Traveling on Hökensås without a map you easily get lost in the eagerness of getting lucky in fishing.
